A(notation(s)) is an experiment in discourse around the conditions, context and aspirations (or not) around work and labor. On the one hand, this offering is a conversation intended to map and document notions of work/labor and the state (of it’s? ) resignation. On October 10, 2019, Trudy (@iamtrudz) tweeted “My dream job is …not working. No work. I do not dream of labor. The Great Resignation, pointedly, is the classification some journalists have coined in which to frame some larger context of a present North American reality. In considering irregularities, we also think through ideas of traditional work as a concept that may no longer serve new generations as well as work that is marginalized, criminalized, or altogether alternative. The moderator asks ‘what have we internalized about the kinds of work available to us? What (work) deserves reconsideration? Where do we still feel subjected (by work and its injustices)? What do we feel empowered to design (of our working conditions/state(s)?
